If you do not upgrade to the latest Citrix Workspace version, then you may not be able to login and work, so please follow this guide on how to upgrade to the latest Citrix Workspace App.

First we will run through how to uninstall your current Citrix Reciever and install the new Citrix Workspace app, and the further below we will run through how to uninstall the old Citrix HDX RealTime Media Engine and install the latest version. You will only need to do this if you use Skype for Business within Citrix. If you don't you can ignore the later steps.

Uninstall Citrix Receiver and Install Citrix Workspace app

Firstly, we will have to uninstall the previous version, and then install the latest version

Please note that if you currently have Citrix open this will close it.

  1. Go to your applications folder, by left clicking on the Finder application in your system tray, and navigating to the applications folder on the left as shown below.

  2. Right click on the Citrix Receiver icon, and left click on the option for Move to Bin. This will uninstall the application.

  3. Download the latest version of the Citrix Workspace app from this link.
Once on the page, click on the download link as shown below

  4. Once downloaded, open the file by left clicking on it once as shown below.

If you are using a browser other than Chrome, then you will find this download in your downloads folder.

  5. It should then open a window as shown below. Double click on the Install Citrix Workspace icon.

  6. An installer should then pop up. Click on Continue, and the installer will step you through installing the latest Citrix Workspace app.
It's fairly straightforward, basically just clicking on continue or next in the bottom right hand corner.

  7. You will get to a step as shown below. Leave the Add Account option UNTICKED and press continue.

  8. You have now installed the new Citrix Workspace app! Press Close and you can now login and continue working!
If you do not use Skype for Business within Citrix, then that is all you need to do!

Uninstall Citrix HDX RealTime Media Engine and install the latest version

Please note that you will only need to complete the following steps if you use Skype for Business within Citrix.

  1. Download the latest version of the Citrix HDX RealTime Media Engine from this link.
Once on the page, click on the download link as shown below.

A handy way to tell is that the file type will be .dmg for Mac and .exe for Windows
  2. Once downloaded, open the file by left clicking on it once as shown below.

If you are using a browser other than Chrome, then you will find this download in your downloads folder

  3. An window similar to the below should now appear. If you get any sort of error opening the downloaded file, please refer to step 1 and ensure you have the correct file type downloaded.
Please note that we will first uninstall the version you have installed currently, then will be installing the latest version.
Double click on the Uninstall HDXRealTimeMediaEngine icon.

  4. A warning such as the below may pop up for you. Click on the Open button

  5. A window should pop up alerting you that it has been uninstalled. Click on Finish.

  6. Navigate to the previous window, and double click on the Install HDXRealTimeMediaEngine.pkg icon

  7. This will open an installer similar to the Citrix Workspace one. Click on the continue button and run through the installer.
